Sweet Girls
When I was a young girl I loved drawing a little girls face, I would draw her over and over again in search of perfection. There were three particularly important features; head shape, eyes closed and love heart lips.
I am still drawing her even now, in search of the perfect
face, where she is utterly content and serene.
The following series of sweet girls are pen on white or grey paper which I then cut out,
and glue on a contrasting paper to lift them out of the background. I find this
subtlety gives them a little bit more interest.
I like the way she sits quietly in the space, space is just
as important as form. There is a lot of room around her but she holds
her own, content to be who she is.
