Maori Girl

When I was home in NZ at Christmas I took my children to the Otago Museum which has a fantastic antiquities section. I have always loved the Chiefs’ cloaks with their kiwi feather trim and I was delighted to show my children the history that has helped shape NZ into such a great country. This little girl is inspired by my earlier doll collection. She is drawn in Adobe Illustrator and I have used lots of layers and transparencies to give the feathers this effect. I think she is very beautiful!

Cacti Girl

These drawings, from my sketchbook, are a combination of other drawings; monsters with thorny protrusions, sweet girls (finding a darker side), and the succulents that are currently flowering in my home. I decided to break out the colouring in pencils after years of abandonment, and rather like how they work with the pen.

Winter Mouse

It is a bleak day in Armidale and this little mouse has wrapped himself up in scarf and hat just like the rest of us!

Bright Birds

Sometimes it is nice to see what you can do with simple shapes.  I think these little birds are inquisitive and always see the bright side of life.
